Intake Procedure:Women call the Fund's phone number, which is always answered by an answering machine. Volunteers receive the messages and call women back within 36 hours. It is helpful if women already have an appointment so they know the cost of the abortion and how much funding they need, but it is not required. Volunteer will usually have one or two phone calls with women. If approved for funding, volunteers will notify the clinic of assistance and the clinic is paid directly.

Intake Procedure:Only women and girls who are residents of Wisconsin can be helped by the Women's Medical Fund. If having the abortion at a Wisconsin clinic, before contacting the Fund, women and girls must already have had their first counseling appointment, have scheduled an appointment for an abortion and have a referral from the clinic. If having an abortion outside Wisconsin, women and girls must have an appointment for an abortion, and a referral from the clinic. Women and girls then call the Fund during regular business hours to ask for assistance. Women and girls will be asked a series of brief questions to determine if the Fund is able to help with funding. A form will be filled out over the phone and a decision on amount of funding will be made immediately.
